Smart AR Home is an app that lets you control your smart home devices in a new unique way. Once you get your home scan and place your devices, you will control them with the 3D view, overlooking your home.
Home scan, also sometimes named home plan, is a 3D scan of your home that is used to placed devices on. Scan is created using Augmented Reality and stored locally on the device. You only need to create a scan once and you can import it other devices.
Right now, we are only supporting scanning with iOS devices that support LIDAR. These types of devices give us best quality scans and good app performance. In the future, we will be adding additional devices, especially with Android operating system. Please give us some time to work on it. Remember that you only need to scan once. If you don’t have a device with LIDAR, ask a friend to take a scan for you. Then Export it from the settings and import into the app on your device.
No, we don't keep or store images of your home. Images are taken only during scanning process. Immediately after scan is processed, images of your home are removed from your device. Home scan is kept in a quality of what you see on the app screen, mostly not good enough to recognize any of your private environment.
Augmented Technology improved in the recent years but it’s not perfect. We will try to improve the scans in the future and provide better quality scans but please be patient as we are working on it. Higher quality scans would also require a lot of processing on your device and will drain battery, so in some cases we are decreasing scan quality.
We are supporting Smart Things integration and we are planning to add more, based on the user interest. If you are missing your favorite system, let us know. Send us an email!
Once you have your home scan and devices placed, you can easily share your setup with others. From the app settings, navigate to Share and choose Export option. Application will ask you to save a “zip” file on your local storage. Once you do that, you can send that file to any of your family members in your most preferred way, like email or chat. They will need to import it from Smart AR Home app, either from starting screen or from Settings and Share option. Please remember that this will remove their current home setup, if exists on that device.
The exported file with the home setup is zipped with password and so not easily accessible by anyone. However, since that file contains your home scan and devices setup, it’s recommended to share it with family members in a secure way and remove from any shared location after importing on the new device. From the moment you export your home setup, we can’t control it from the app and so it’s your responsibility to protect it.
Your home scan is stored on your local device with the application data. It’s as secure as your mobile device as any other app on your device. We don’t upload anywhere, and we don’t share it. It always stays with you on your device locally.
If you don’t want to use Smart AR Home app anymore, uninstalling the app from the device will also remove application data, together with the home scan. No other action is needed. If you would like to keep the Smart AR Home on your device but want to remove the home scan, navigate to the Settings and Floors options, and choose home rescan. This action will remove existing home scan for all floors.
